Prince Charles reportedly has a complicated relationship with food.

Since he’s the future king of Britain, there’s no question that he has a very busy schedule. In fact, Prince Charles can barely sit down and enjoy a meal.

So, according to one former royal correspondent, Prince Charles usually eats a heavy breakfast before starting his day. And he doesn’t normally eat lunch. The next that he will have a proper meal is during dinnertime.

While speaking with The Daily Telegraph, former royal correspondent Gordon Rayner revealed that when he was still a newbie, he didn’t have any idea regarding Prince Charles’ bizarre eating habits.

So, he went on the field without food and snacks in tow. And he soon realized that Prince Charles skips his lunch so he was unable to eat as well.

“Lunch is seen as a luxury that gets in the way of his work, so he eats a late breakfast and works through. I found this out the hard way, by going hungry when I started covering royal tours and watching enviously as his long-suffering staff produced snacks from pockets so they could eat on the go,” he said (via Express).

Another source echoed Rayner’s sentiments and said that Prince Charles’ habit of skipping lunch does not sit well with his staff who are not used to not eating three meals a day.

“When we do day visits or foreign tours, he can go the whole day without stopping for a break, which means we all have to miss our lunch as well. It's good in a way, because it means he has time to meet more people, but he doesn't seem to notice all the rumbling stomachs around him. You just learn that you have to have a big breakfast on those days,” the source (via Express).

Royal author Sally Bedell Smith also revealed that staff’s frustration with Prince Charles when it comes to his absurd eating habits. She said that the heir to the throne eats the same thing on weekdays. And on weekends, he treats himself to his own cheesy baked eggs recipe.

The other members of the royal family also have some absurd practices when it comes to eating. For instance, they do not eat garlic and Queen Elizabeth especially dislikes the taste.

Her Majesty isn’t also a fan of carbs and she prefers fish over other types of meat.
