Prince Harry and Meghan Markle were invited to attend the UN General Assembly on Monday.

Recent reports revealed that the Duke of Sussex would say a few words about Nelson Mandela in his tribute. However, royal expert Angela Levin couldn’t help but question why he is being given the opportunity to address the attendees at the UN General Assembly.

“Harry giving a speech about Nelson Mandela in the UK on Monday. Would he have got it without being a member of the royal family that he couldn't wait to leave?” she said (via Geo. TV).

GB News presenter Eamonn Holmes echoed Levin’s sentiments. He asked what Prince Harry has got to say that will change or influence the world.

However, royal author Katie Nicholl seemingly defended Prince Harry’s upcoming attendance.

“Joking aside, I think if climate change is on the agenda, then Harry is probably going to be pretty impressive on that front,” Nicholl said.

According to Fox News, Prince Harry’s speech is also being dubbed one of his most important addresses since he and his wife stepped down from their royal duties two years ago.

Prince Harry and Markle have been giving keynote speeches in the United States. Last year, the couple graced the Global Citizen Live event to call for vaccine equity.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex also honored the veterans on Veterans Day last year. They were at the Salute to Freedom gala, and they also had the opportunity to meet military families and veterans.

As of writing, it’s unclear why Prince Harry and Markle have been invited to the UN General Assembly. But it is important to note that Mandela is the former president of South Africa. And the couple has close ties to the country.

In fact, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex previously visited South Africa for their royal tour. And even before their relationship was announced to the world, the couple had already gone to South Africa for a quick vacation.

Due to the pandemic, Prince Harry and Markle have not returned to South Africa in about three years. It’s unclear when they plan to visit the country but their future trips will be more exciting because they can bring their children along with them.

Other details regarding the UN General Assembly and Prince Harry’s speech are still being kept under wraps.
