Naomi Judd’s death shocked her fans from across the globe.

Her daughter, Ashley Judd revealed during this week’s interview that her mom committed suicide.

She said that she had a visitor at home and when she returned to her mom’s room, she saw that she shot herself using a gun.

Fans of the singer know that she has been struggling with mental health issues. But in its May 23 issue, Globe claimed that Naomi was also stressing over her upcoming performances.

“Naomi was scared to death about going out on tour again after not performing for so long. For years, she loved the fact that people always asked if she and Wynonna were sisters because she was so beautiful and youthful-looking. But the medication she was taking for depression caused her hands and face to balloon to the point where she was almost unrecognizable. For a proud woman, that was devastating,” the source said.

The source added that in the end, Judd must have felt that she was at the end of her life. After all, she was already 76 years old and didn’t have much to do.

“Naomi was feeling every one of her 76 years and though she faced a bleak future where she was never going to get better,” the source said.

Following her death, Judd’s daughter, Wynonna announced that she would continue the tour without her mom. She said that her heart is broken but she would carry on.

During Ashley’s interview with Diane Sawyer, she said that her entire family wasn’t comfortable sharing the fact that Judd used a firearm to end her life.

But she also stressed the importance of drawing a distinction between her loved one and her illness.

“That is the level of the catastrophe of what was going on inside of her because the barrier between the regard in which they held her couldn’t penetrate into her heart and the lie the disease told her was so convincing,” she said (via CNN).

Ashley also said that she’s dealing with the grief and trauma of discovering her mother's lifeless body.

And Judd’s death also became even more traumatic because she passed away the day before she was supposed to be inducted into the Country Music Hall of Fame.

Her daughters attended the event and accept the recognition on her behalf.
