Jason Sudeikis did not reportedly know when or where Olivia Wilde would receive the custody papers. But, he “would never condone” how the mother of his children was served with the envelope at CinemaCon.

Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, an insider stated that the “Ted Lasso” actor “had no prior knowledge” of the matter. He was not aware of the “time and place that the envelope would have been delivered, as this would solely be up to the process service company involved,” according to Cheat Sheet.

Sudeikis, who shares two children with Wilde, is said to have, also, deemed the incident “inappropriate.” As for the contents of the envelope, the source describes it as papers establishing “jurisdiction relating to the children” of the former couple.

The statement comes after Olivia Wilde made headlines for receiving an envelope on stage amid her presentation at CinemaCon on Tuesday. BBC said that an unknown woman interrupted the actress-director while introducing footage of her upcoming material, “Don’t Worry Darling.”

Upon accepting the envelope, which carries the markings “private and confidential,” she asked whether it was for her, thinking it was a new film script. She opened the document and scanned the contents, and consequently resumed her presentation.

Speculations quickly surfaced that Wilde had received a script. But, on Wednesday, reports said that the envelope contained custody papers from Jason Sudeikis.

On Friday, a family law specialist shared an insight into the incident at CinemaCon. Speaking to Inside Edition, Kelly Chang Rickert stated that “somebody dropped the ball,” resulting in the way Olivia Wilde received the custody papers.

She explained that it is either “Jason Sudeikis did not tell his lawyers what to do,” “the attorneys did not ask [the actor] before they served [the document]” or “maybe, Olivia tried to avoid service, and this was the only way they could reach her.”

Many netizens seemingly agreed with the expert’s assertions. In the comment section, most of them claimed that it appears the actress had avoided service, leading to the serving of the envelope at the event before her audience.

Others, however, pointed out that no one knows what happened behind closed doors. Accordingly, they urge individuals not to come for the former couple.

Olivia Wilde and Jason Sudeikis met in mid-2011. They only began dating, though, six months after their first meeting.

In December 2012, the then-celebrity couple got engaged. But, it was not until after the New Year that they made the relationship milestone public, according to Brides.

Sudeikis and Wilde welcomed their two children in 2014 and 2016. They continued to make appearances, as well as some interviews regarding their relationship until 2019.

Later in 2020, however, news broke that the pair had called off their engagement.
