Chris Rock and Will Smith are both pals of Terry Crews. This is why he is not taking sides following the infamous slap incident at this year’s Oscars.

The comedian, nevertheless, shared some of his insight into the altercation. People noted that he spoke to The Hollywood Reporter about the matter during his interview for his upcoming memoir, “Tough: My True Journey to Power.”

Crews pointed out that Rock and Smith are “dear friends” of his, adding that he “loves them both as brothers.” But, he stated that he declines to “demonize” the “Aladdin” actor for what he did during the awarding ceremony. He even revealed there was a time in his life when he had done worse things than what Will Smith did.

The “Brooklyn Nine-Nine” actor, also, recalled what his wife had told him following the Oscars incident. He shared that she “had to be like, ‘you got to promise me you will never go off life this. You did not need to pick this man up and put him on his head, on the concrete.’”

Later on, though, Terry Crews applauded Chris Rock for his ability to keep his composure following the slap from Will Smith on stage. He went as far as to say that the “Saturday Night Live” alum “saved Hollywood” for doing so.

The comedian continued that the “true definition of toughness was what Chris [Rock] did in taking a punch and then holding everything together, and then showing tremendous endurance and resilience in the middle of obstacles.” He, also, emphasized that he is “very thankful” to Rock, noting, however, that he “understands Will [Smith],” as well.

The public would recall that Will Smith slapped Chris Rock across the face on stage at the Oscars on March 27. The latter was a presenter during the ceremony, while the former was a nominee for the Best Actor gong for his “King Richard” role.

The “SNL” alum made a joke about “G.I Jane” in relation to Jada Pinkett Smith’s bald head. The actress is living with alopecia, a medical condition that Rock did not reportedly know at the time.

After slapping the comedian on stage, Smith shouted a vulgarity from his seat. It has become a “shocking moment” for everyone and has since overshadowed the ceremony, as per Reuters.

Apart from Terry Crews, several celebrities have shared their respective thoughts about the infamous incident at the Oscars. As for the involved personalities, Chris Rock has yet to release any official statement, while Will Smith has already apologized to the comedian, the Academy, fellow nominees, and the rest of the public who witnessed what happened.
