Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have sparked fury among experts and the public. It all comes after learning about their upcoming trip to The Hague for the Invictus Games.

Express UK reported that netizens branded the former working royals “self-absorbed” after the news broke. As pointed out, they were absent in the Service of Thanksgiving for the late Prince Philip in the United Kingdom, yet they now plan to make a trip to the Netherlands.

Russell Myers of The Mirror reportedly tweeted that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s decision has “raised eyebrows” among royal watchers, family members, and the rest of the public. He stated that this is because the royal-born Prince had previously claimed he and his family are unable to travel to the U.K. “as it is ‘too dangerous.’”

Several individuals shared their thoughts on social media after learning about Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s reported flight next week.

One asserted that the couple “skipped the memorial [because] they would have been small fish in a big sea of monarchs and royalty.” But, with the Invictus Games, “there is no competition, and they can pretend they are the monarchs.”

A royal commentator, also, alleged that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex are “using Invictus veterans to make a reality TV show about themselves.” The user, then, described them as “utterly self-absorbed.”

Prince Harry and Meghan Markle will reportedly be accompanied by a Netflix documentary crew on their trip to The Hague, according to a separate report from Express UK. A source, also, revealed that the former actress is “excited to travel” with her husband for the event, which is “close to his heart.”

The camera crew is said to be for the pair’s docuseries on the streaming platform about the Invictus Games. It will carry the title, “Heart of Invictus,” as per reports.

The Invictus Games will commence on April 16, nearly three weeks after the special memorial event for the late Duke of Edinburgh. Meghan Markle and Prince Harry remained in the United States during the service due to undisclosed reasons.

Experts and commentators believe, however, that the decision not to attend had something to do with the royal-born Prince’s ongoing security row with the Home Office. He sought a judicial review of the office’s decision not to allow him to pay for his own police protection when in the United Kingdom.

The Duke and Duchess of Sussex have since been receiving criticisms and waves of backlash due to their absence. Some experts even noted that they would “regret” it, especially on the youngest Wales prince’s part.
