Caitriona Balfe recently released a statement to address the backlash she received. This comes after “Outlander” Season 6 had a world premiere in London.

Cheat Sheet reported that the 42-year-old actress attended the event virtually. With her absence, fans and followers of the series expressed “disappointment” on media platforms, with some calling it “shameful.”

Following the waves of criticisms, Balfe took her sentiments to Twitter and explained her side. She acknowledged the fandom’s feelings, noting that she understands their reactions.

She urged them, however, to understand her side, as well. “As a new mom,” she stated that she is “trying to do the best” she can.

Moreover, Caitriona Balfe said that it is, indeed, a “change” for her not being able to fly across the globe as she used to do it. But, even so, “we are adapting,” adding that everyone in the cast and production of “Outlander” is giving the fandom “the best experience” amid the “new and challenging circumstances.”

As Balfe urged fans and viewers to understand the situation, Sam Heughan reportedly “defended” his co-star. He said they are “glad” the actress still made it to be part of the event despite her absence in person.

The actor, also, pointed out that his on-screen partner was in the United States, and “she has just had a child.”

Meanwhile, Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan, alongside the entire cast and producers of “Outlander,” have promised that Season 6 is “worth the wait.” The public would recall that nearly two years have passed since Season 5 concluded its course on small screens.

The series production met several challenges and difficulties amid the COVID-19 pandemic. Parade said that this led the material to be reduced to only eight episodes versus the usual 13-title installment.

But, despite this, creator and author Diana Gabaldon reportedly shared that the sixth season is the first-ever installment she has not found a single episode that is “less likable.” She added that it is “extremely good throughout” its entire course.

“Outlander” Season 6 will pick up where it last left off. This means the plot will begin in late 1772 at Fraser’s Ridge in North Carolina.

Caitriona Balfe and Sam Heughan’s characters, Claire and Jamie Fraser, will be in the process of healing and moving on after the abduction, brutal assault, and gang rape of the family matriarch.

The upcoming season reportedly draws from the sixth book in the series, “A Breath of Snow and Ashes,” according to CNET. But, the fifth installment already covered some of the key events in the material.

“Outlander” Season 6 will premiere on Starz, on March 6.
