British Royals have numerous rules to follow as they live their lives as royalties. But, some members, including even Queen Elizabeth II and Kate Middleton, have broken some of these protocols a few times.

Cheat Sheet reported that the two senior working royals repeatedly went against the fur ban among royalties. They wore real fur as part of their outfits a few times in the past, and this applies, as well, to other members of the monarchy, like Princess Anne and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.

As explained, the ban on wearing real fur is a 700-year-old rule among the British Royal Family. King Edward III banned anyone, including all royals, from wearing such material in their outfits as stipulated in the Fur Act of 1337.

While most women today in the British Royal Family broke the rule a few times, citing Kate Middleton's fur scarf and gloves, as well as some of the Queen's ensembles, Meghan Markle is not one of them. As stated, the former actress has never worn fur since her time in Hollywood, and never will even after leaving the British Monarchy.

The publication recalled an interview the Duchess of Sussex did way back in 2017 for The Telegraph. She shared about her preference of wearing "vegan leather" instead of real animal leather, adding that she loves her "cropped pants" in it.

A close friend of Meghan Markle, also, revealed in 2018 that the former Hollywood celebrity opposes fur clothing. She was said to employ a "strict fur-free wardrobe policy" due to ethics, according to Live Kindly.

The outlet noted that the report emerged on The Independent after the Duchess of Sussex's pal, Gina Nelthorpe-Cowne, spoke to them about the matter. She explained that her company's former talent "flat out refuses to promote fur or animal products" and opts for "faux fur" instead.

Kate Middleton's sister-in-law, also, appears to have extended her interest in animal welfare beyond clothing and fashion. As unveiled, she once cancelled a hotel booking after spotting a live parrot caged as part of the decor, saying she could not stay in the accommodation "because of the parrot."

Meanwhile, after wearing fur clothing items a few many times in the past, criticisms and waves of backlash became apparent toward the members of the British Royal Family. This, then, caused Queen Elizabeth II, likely Kate Middleton, as well, to stop wearing any new pieces featuring real fur.

The monarch's dressmaker, Angela Kelly, revealed the decision in her book, "The Other Side of the Coin: The Queen, the Dresser and the Wardrobe," noting that from 2019 onwards, "fake fur will be used to make sure she stays warm" during cold-weathered engagements and appearances.
