After working on DC Universe movies for years, Zack Snyder is all set to release Army of the Dead under his own banner, The Stone Quarry. The action-horror will star Tig Notaro and Dave Bautista in the lead roles.

The writer and director of the movie, Snyder, opened up about the movie as he shared the first look of the zombie heist film on social media. The 54-year-old filmmaker said that the fans anticipate action-pack zombie chaos, which they will definitely get to see experience.

However, there is something more than the multi-talented filmmaker has to offer. Snyder explained that the movie characters are amazing as they have more depth and their journeys are fantastic. In fact, the characters in the film will share their emotional side and have great warmth throughout.

Snyder further revealed that the mashup of heart and zombie heist movie came after he finished working on Dawn of the Dead, which was written by George A. Romero and James Gunn. The Man of Steel, 300 director, disclosed that the movie is based on a plague, which started from Area 51 military base in Nevada.

The government tried to stop the outbreak with the help of building a wall around the city. Although the city has a lot of cash in the casinos, only someone who is brave enough might think of giving a shot at getting the money.

"That was so fun, so I started to think of what were other genres that story didn't have room for. It's this tone where you have fun with the genre, but you don't make fun of the genre. It's a fine line," Snyder added. The director said that the idea stuck in his head for over a decade as no one wanted to invest in a zombie film.

Bautista also shed light on the project and said that he almost rejected the lead role because he wasn't interested. Yes, the 51-year-old actor and former wrestler said that he was tired of similar roles and wanted to try his hands on some dramatic roles.

Although the Guardians of the Galaxy star read the script and realized that the characters had more depth and layers. Moreover, Bautista admitted that he always wanted to work with Snyder.

The director recently said that he has no intention of making more movies for DC Extended Universe following Justice League’s release. In fact, he noted that there are many other projects already lined up for him.
