Undeterred by judges turning down their lawsuits in several key states, President Donald Trump’s campaign isn't willing to stop its unprecedented efforts to reverse the election results. Keeping in line with that, it filed a new petition with the Supreme Court on Sunday.

In its appeal, Trump’s campaign team is urging the U.S. Supreme Court to overturn several cases by the Pennsylvania Supreme Court in a bid to change the state's mail ballot law ahead of and after the presidential election. The president's campaign released a statement claiming that the Pennsylvania State Supreme Court violated Article II of the U.S. Constitution and Bush v. Gore by changing the law.

The petition alludes to a similar Pennsylvania case that saw three justices, including Justice Samuel Alito observing the state court's constitutionality to draw out the statutory deadline for the acceptance mail ballots from 8 p.m. on Election Day to 5 p.m.three days later. According to the campaign team, the constitutionality of the court's decision had "national importance" and is likely to disregard the U.S. Constitution, Fox News reported.

The prospect of the nation's highest court reversing the outcome of a democratic election based on dubious claims of voter fraud is highly unlikely. Still, it wouldn't change the outcome, according to POLITICO. President-elect Joe Biden would still be the winner even if the Pennsylvania votes are not considered, thanks to his massive margin of victory in the Electoral College.

The aforesaid petition marks the latest attempt in an ongoing series of lawsuits brought by the president's campaign, hoping to overturn the 2020 presidential election results. Trump, who still refuses to concede, has repeatedly raised questions regarding the recently concluded election's legitimacy and challenged its outcome in courts.

It is worth mentioning here that the Trump campaign and the president's Republican allies have lost over 50 court cases seeking to challenge the election results, many of which made the same arguments stated in the new petition. While GOP and the Trump campaign have indicated that the  6-3 conservative Supreme Court would decide in favor of the president, the high court has already denied a couple of previous attempts seeking to challenge Pennsylvania’s voting rules, Fox News reported.

Trump and his campaign have tried to interfere in previous election challenges at the nation's highest court, but this is the first time they have challenged a post-election case directly at the court. The campaign also claimed it would appeal to a separate court case in Pennsylvania to the Supreme Court, following its failure in federal appeals court.
