Mel B is reportedly struggling financially as her court battle with ex-husband Stephen Belafonte continues.

According to WHO, Mel B’s financial situation has become so dire that she’s even asked her ex, Eddie Murphy, for financial support

The comedian is already giving his and Mel B’s daughter $38,000 per month but the Spice Girls member said that this isn’t enough.

In a recent statement, Mel B said that she might have to file for bankruptcy very soon because she’s not getting enough money due to the coronavirus pandemic.

Mel B also revealed that the court has asked her to pay Belafonte $700,000 in legal and accounting fees.

Following their split in 2017, the singer revealed that she only had $2,000 in her bank account.

And Mel B’s current financial situation has forced her to stop her attempts to try and bring her other daughter, Madison to the United Kingdom.

The young girl is currently residing with her dad in the United  States.

According to reports, Mel B also moved in with her mom to help with her finances. But the fact that she needs to pay $15,000 a month in spousal support to her ex-husband has not helped.

Mel B also pays $7,300 in child support to her youngest daughter, Madison. And she also has a $2.5 million tax debt.

In her statement, Mel B said that she hopes to find a steady source of income in 2021. But because of COVID-19, she knows that this won’t be easy.

Two years ago, Mel B released a memoir called Brutally Honest, where she talked about her tumultuous relationship with Belafonte.

She revealed that her ex-husband was abusive towards her. She also said that she became addicted to cocaine and took it every morning for breakfast.

Mel B also said that she feels she was a victim of gaslighting because her ex-husband managed to make her feel so small and inadequate.

Six years ago, Mel B also tried to take her own life. When she returned to judging on The X-Factor, she had a bruise on her cheek and there were also scratches on her arms.

Eagle-eyed fans also noticed that Mel B wasn’t wearing her wedding ring.

Belafonte was immediately accused of physically abusing his ex-wife. He took his thoughts to Twitter to deny the allegations.

During her interview with The Guardian, Mel B said that she met Belafonte during a difficult time in her life. Back in 2003, Murphy denied that he’s the father of Mel B’s daughter. And this left the singer feeling distraught.
