Reports about Richard Gere, 70, expecting his second child with wife Alejandra Silva, 37 began doing the rounds online in Nov. 2019, but the couple refrained from confirming the news.

Gere and his wife, Alejandra has welcomed their second child together. Spanish magazine Hola! has confirmed that the couple is now proud parents of a baby boy. The couple is reportedly spending time with the newest entrant in their family at their ranch located outside New York.

Despite multiple reports hinting at Richard and his wife Alejandra expecting their second child surfacing online in Nov. last year, the couple opted to remain mum. Married in Apr. 2018, the couple confirmed they were expecting their first child together in Aug. that year.

Alejandra and Richard first met back in 2014 at a luxury Italian boutique hotel co-owned by Alejandra with her former husband. The pair welcomed their first son Alexander in Feb. last year. Richard said he wasn't worried about becoming an older parent, but was rather focusing on being a hands-on dad.

The couple didn't resort to a conventional way when it came to announcing their first child. At the time, Alejandra posted a picture of herself with her husband Richard meeting Tibet’s exiled spiritual leader, the Dalai Lama, who placed his hand on her bump to bless her unborn child.

Richard and the Dalai Lama have been friends for a long time. Richard, who is a Buddhist himself has prominently been advocating human rights in Tibet, which he claims is the reason why he was blacklisted in Hollywood. Aside from that, China banned his entry into the country due to his support for Tibet.

The pair welcomed their first child together in Feb. 2019, but they have children from their earlier relationships as well. The 'American Gigolo' star has a 20-year-old son Homer with former wife Carey Lowell, who he divorced in 2016, ending their 14-years marriage.

Before this, Richard married Cindy Crawford in 1991 and divorced the American model in 1995. Alejandra too has a son Albert, 7, with her ex-husband Govind Friedland, who she was married to for three years before parting ways in 2015.

Daughter of a former Real Madrid vice-president, Alejandra refers to Richard as her hero in real life. Richard, on the other hand, told Hola! magazine that marrying Alejandra made him the happiest man in the universe. He describes his wife as a wonderful, sensitive, funny woman who is a great mother and a person who's dedicated to helping others.
