The birth of Archie Harrison Mountbatten-Windsor was an anticipated event by the British royal family. Royal babies are big news for the royal firm, so when it was announced that a new addition was coming, the royals were most supportive.

Despite royal births being an event for celebration, it happens to be that Archie’s birth was one that Prince William did not appreciate.

According to Robert Lacey, in his newest tell-all book ‘Battle of Brothers,’ the second-on-line to the throne was not happy by how his younger brother announced the birth of Archie Harrison.

Lacey explains that Archie was born in the early morning of May 6 but the royal palace only announced that Meghan Markle was in labor eight hours after Archie's birth.

Prince William was said to not agree with the secrecy surrounding the birth and preached that the royal should be honest to the public.

Another reason for Prince William’s anger with the baby news is the fact that he and his wife, Kate Middleton, were only allowed to meet the tot after eight days while the other royal members met Archie soon after his birth.

In ‘Battle of Brothers’ Lacey also wrote about how Prince William was in disagreement with the Sussex’s after they kept the names of Archie’s godparents a secret.

Compared to William and Kate’s children, the couple was very transparent about the birth, as well as the godparents of their three royal children.

The Sussex’s also preferred the godparents to be called ‘secret sponsors,’ a title that William found horrifying.

According to Lacey, ‘secret sponsor’ has a dodgy ring to it and commented that one of the biggest strengths the royal family has is their honesty to the public.

"Here again, however, precedent, protocol and practice all collided headlong with Harry and Meghan’s firm insistence on their privacy — and that of their new baby,” Lacey writes in ‘Battle of Brothers’.

By the time of Archie’s birth, there has been a heavy air between Prince William and younger brother, Prince Harry.

Marieclaire reports that both Prince William and Kate Middleton have been put under severe pressure after Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s split with the royal family.

Lacey’s ‘Battle of Brothers’ book explains more about what happened during Sussex’s life in the royal family as well as giving a different aspect of the ongoing feud between the royal brothers.
