President Donald Trump and Vice President Mike Pence have been close allies for a very long time. Every major move that Trump made has been backed up strongly by Pence, be it right or wrong. The coronavirus picture of the United States is hidden to none all across the globe, notwithstanding Trump gives himself a pat on his back for good management of the country through the pandemic. To his unmindful support, Mike Pence said during a rally that Trump had actually saved thousands of lives during the pandemic through his pro-active actions and agile approach. The word “pro-active” is sort of funny here.

As good as Mike Pence is for Trump, he wasn’t his first choice to be his Vice President.

As per a new book authored by former campaign deputy Rick Gates, Trump wanted his politically charged daughter and White House member Ivanka Trump to have his back as the Vice President.

No doubt about it, besides the President, Ivanka Trump has been the most active participant in politics. Other members of Trump's family usually remain mum or speak only when the POTUS needs critical support from them. Even the first lady Melania Trump has remained fairly uninvolved in the politics of her husband.

In one of the excerpts, Gates writes that Trump had spotted the political talent and ambitions of his daughter – and saw her as the potential vice-president. So much so that he even carried out the polling.

As per the text, Trump backed his point of siding with Ivanka for vice presidency with some of her traits. Trump told everyone in the office community that "She’s bright, she’s smart, she’s beautiful, and the people would love her” - so she must be given this opportunity to represent the great nation of United States

Despite her father’s strong wish, Ivanka chose not to take the job as she thought she wasn’t prepared to handle so much of workload and responsibilities. She told her father that it wasn’t a great idea to pick her for the vice presidency.

Trump stumbled across Mike Pence, then the Governor of Indiana, in the wake of his fiery speech in which he took a strong jab at Trump’s 2016 presidential opponent Hillary Clinton. Exactly so! That’s what the President wanted and he got the right one to be his office mate.

Reports have emerged of late that Ivanka may want to give the 2024 presidential election a shot.
