Queen Elizabeth II Allegedly Shattered After She Gave Up This Royal Role
It is being said that Queen Elizabeth II feels sad after she was compelled to cancel one of her royal duties, which she is extremely fond of. Reports have emerged that Her Majesty is feeling “more than frustrated.”
The Queen had to cancel some of her major royal duties amid the heartbreaking impact of the COVID-19 pandemic on the country. Many are aware that Prince Charles’ mother has been extremely religious.
She was slated to participate in a Maundy Thursday service, as well as some other crucial events in the Christian Holy Week that fall during the period of Easter. However, she had to cancel those duties this time around, which has apparently made her feel quite frustrated as being reported by Chris Ship, ITV Royal Editor.
According to Ship, the Queen would not have been happy after canceling events, which are important for her. The editor also added that everyone knows how crucial Maundy Thursday is to her.
He feels that she could be “more than frustrated” for not being able to complete responsibilities, which she would otherwise engage in that particular time period. So, she instead dispatched the Maundy money to all those people, who were supposed to receive it from her directly.
Lizzie Robinson, a royal expert mentioned that the monarch has sent money to 94 women and 94 men, which means 188 recipients in total. Robinson added that the number of recipients matches the age of the Queen every year. As Queen Elizabeth II will turn 94 this year, there have been 94 male and 94 female recipients, Express reports.
It is possibly the first time in her long reign of 68 years that the Queen will not have her birthday celebration marked with a cannon salute. The monarch, apparently, does not think it appropriate to have a grand birthday celebration in the current health crisis, The Cut reports.
In March this year, the Queen had also canceled the special parade called “Trooping the Colour”, which marks her birthday each year. The event was earlier slated for Jun. 13. It is being said that she is not in favor of grand festivities as the country is struggling amid the horror of the deadly virus.
A source from Buckingham Palace stated that the Queen’s birthday will not be celebrated in any special manner this year. The source further said that all calls with her family will be private.
Queen Elizabeth II is reportedly not keen on any such activities, which defy the present lockdown scenario when people are being asked to stay at home. The sentiment is in sync with her address to the nation that emphasized the importance of social distancing.
