Speculations suggesting that Donald Trump will refuse to step down even if he loses his re-election bid in Nov. began doing the rounds online after the president refused to commit to a peaceful transfer of power in a recently concluded interview. The Democratic presidential nominee Joe Biden, however, is confirmed that the president will not block the process of handing over control of government to the newly elected leadership.

This remark dismisses concerns surrounding the president's hints at holding on to power regardless of the presidential election results. The former vice president told MSNBC’s Stephanie Ruhle that Trump is simply trying to sow doubt in the democratic process by speaking about voter fraud, specifically through mail balloting, describing this as a "typical Trump distraction."

Biden went on to suggest that he thinks Americans will be heard on Nov. 3, noting that every vote in the country will be heard and nobody can stop them. The former veep said despite all the irresponsible, outrageous attacks on voting, the country will witness an election as it always has had, adding that Trump will leave.

This remark comes after the president twice refused to commit to a peaceful transfer of power if he loses re-election. The White House has understandably tried to play down his remarks, claiming he will accept the results of a free and fair” election, although Trump himself has raised concerns regarding the trustworthiness of the final outcome.

Speaking to reporters earlier this week, Trump said that they want to ensure there is an honest election, but noted that he wasn't sure if that can be achieved with the unsolicited ballots. The president has been pushing baseless claims of rampant illegal voting for years.

Aside from that, Trump has warned that a surge in absentee and mail-in voting during the coronavirus pandemic poses serious threats to the possibility of the flawless vote count, despite the lack of evidence that vote-by-mail programs are subject to fraud, The Hill reported.

Biden told Ruhle that he does not believe that federal law enforcement will support Trump’s claims of voter fraud if Trump raises questions regarding the results of the election. He suggested Trump will not try to get the FBI, or anybody else to enforce something that isn't even real.

Trump is trailing his opponent in polls of several key states, which explains his objection and doubts surrounding the outcome of the presidential result. It remains to be seen whether or not he will refuse to peaceful transfer the power to Biden should he lose his reelection bid.
