Tom Hanks was contracted with coronavirus in March and fast forward six months, the actor is back to work. Yes, the hotly anticipated project of Elvis Presley biopic has begun. The 64-year-old actor has returned to Australia along with the entire crew and cast members to resume filming.

The shooting will begin by end of the month as the team has arrived in Queensland for production work. The movie is helmed by Baz Luhrmann and the filming of the musical drama will start on Sept. 23. Hanks portrays Colonel Tom Parker who was the talent manager of Elvis Presley while Austin Butler will play the King of Rock and Roll's character.

Olivia DeJonge will be seen portraying Presley's better half, Priscilla Presley. Luhrmann issued an official statement on Sept. 10 that revealed that the creators are looking forward to work on the project after six months of delay following the lockdown.

"We’re back to, as Elvis liked to say, 'taking care of business!' It is a real privilege in this unprecedented global moment that Tom Hanks has been able to return to Australia to join Austin Butler and all of our extraordinary cast and crew to commence production on Elvis," Luhrmann disclosed.

The director further wrote in the statement that he can't put in words how much Queenslanders and Queensland's officials have supported the project. He revealed that the current climate of the location is pleasant for them to shoot.

Luhrmann thanked Queensland Health officials and Queensland Government who ensured that the entire filming process went smoothly without any trouble. The director explained that the officials helped them to proceed with shooting safely without hampering productivity and creativity.

The 57-year-old director informed that the shooting will progress while keeping all the safety measures and being responsible towards community and team members. The director revealed that Hanks is currently in quarantine for two weeks and everyone is excited to work with him again.

In March, the legendary actor revealed getting contracted with coronavirus along with his wife. The movie was in pre-production at that moment and the couple was located in Australia. They became the first-ever celebrities to come out and spoke about their contraction with the ongoing pandemic.

The couple took Instagram to break the news about their health and said that they have been dealing with cold, body aches, and felt tired. Later, they both addressed different symptoms related to COVID-19.
