Zara Tindall couldn’t be more grateful to her mom, Princess Anne for not giving her and her brother, Peter Phillips a royal title.

Following their births, Princess Anne made the decision to not give her kids royal titles so that they could grow up away from the limelight.

As they got older, Tindall realized that her mom’s decision was the right thing to do.

While speaking with The Sunday Times, Tindall’s father-in-law, Phillip said that his daughter-in-law is always so pleased that she wasn’t given a royal title. After all, this meant that they were able to live their own lives.

Last year, Tindall also talked about not having a royal title unlike her cousins, Prince William and Prince Harry. She said that her life would’ve been so different if she had one.

“My parents didn’t give me or my brother titles, so we’ve been able to have a slightly more normal upbringing. As soon as you have got a title, it is very difficult to shed it. I’m very lucky that both my parents decided not to use the title. We grew up and did all the things that gave us the chance to do,” she said.

In 1973, Queen Elizabeth also offered Princess Anne’s first husband, Captain Mark Phillips a royal title. However, he also refused it. The monarch, later on, offered Princess Anne a courtesy title for her kids, but she also declined it.

While speaking with Vanity Fair, Princess Royal said she doesn’t have any regrets with her decision. Dickie Arbiter also echoed Princess Anne’s decision by saying that it was definitely the right choice.

“It was a masterstroke of Princess Royal. Growing up as a commoner allowed Zara to thrive as her own woman and there has never been any pressure on her to conform. She has benefited from it in all sorts of ways,” Arbiter said.

Meanwhile, Tindall also made headlines this week after she was compared to Meghan Markle. According to Woman UK, the two women are very different because Tindall has a close relationship with the queen while Markle doesn’t.

Tindall also shares the same interests with the queen like horse riding, but this, reportedly, an activity that Markle doesn’t enjoy. As such, she and Her Majesty don’t really have much in common.
