It is a known fact that Prince Charles and his wife Camilla, Duchess of Cornwell faced stiff opposition from various quarters for persisting with their relationship. However, Charles’ tenacity has supposedly had a positive influence on Prince William’s life.

According to a royal expert, Charles’ determination to make his relationship with Camilla work and trying to get acceptance from the mass and media, has left a lasting impression on his son William. Penny Junor, a royal author referred to this in her 2017 book titled “The Duchess.”

Queen Elizabeth II had allegedly made it clear to his son and heir that his lady love was not a negotiable part of his life. Robert Jobson, the veteran royal author wrote in his 2006 book titled “William’s Princess”, that the Duke of Cambridge showed sensitivity towards the manner in which his dad and stepmother were discerned.

It was also mentioned that the young prince learned from his father’s tenacity. While British Prime Minister Baldwin was adamant that the British public would not tolerate Wallis Simpson sitting on the throne, the Prince of Wales was determined to get his nation’s approval for the love of his life.

The royal author feels that some of the traits the future king would pass on to William include breaking the conventions for love and ways of finding an amicable co-existence with media. Jobson also wrote that Prince Charles’ elder son being “an impressionable and intuitive young man” has always shown a deep interest in how the press covered his parents’ affairs and divorce.

The author expressed that the way in which his father handled the press made a strong impression on him. It made him more careful in handling the media to tackle his private life, especially when his relationship was blossoming with Kate Middleton. The author also reminded how the young prince skillfully concealed his true emotions for his future bride from the press.

Meanwhile, according to a report published by BBC, Prince Harry was full of praises after Camilla became his new stepmother. He called her “a wonderful woman” and felt that she made Charles, his dad a happy man, which was extremely important.

The younger son of the Prince of Wales also said that both he and his brother love her. The Duke of Sussex also mentioned that their stepmother has always been close to William and him and she is not the proverbial wicked stepmom.

However, although Prince William and Prince Harry have always shown support for Camilla publicly, several royal commentators say that they like to maintain a distance from Prince Charles’ wife.
