Meghan Markle and Prince Harry opted to not give their son, Archie a royal title after he was born.

The royal couple has been adamant at saying that they want Archie to grow up and have a normal life. This is something that Prince Harry didn’t experience since he was born as a royal and grew up as one.

But according to Express, Markle and Prince Harry would have no other choice but to allow Archie to become a prince when Prince Charles ascends the throne.

However, when Archie turns 18, he will be the one to decide whether he wants to use his title as prince. He may also be referred to as His Royal Highness when he becomes an adult.

A source told the publication that the situation could be awkward for Prince Harry, Markle, and their son because the couple didn’t want Archie to have a royal title.

By the time that Prince Charles ascends the throne, Archie will be sixth in line to the throne. As such, he will still be subjected to rules according to the 2013 Succession to the Crown Act.

One of the rules that Archie needs to follow if he accepts his royal title has to do with asking permission before he could tie the knot. Archie will ask permission from whoever is on the throne by then so it could be Prince Charles or Prince William.

The same rule applies to Prince George, Princess Charlotte, and Prince Louis when the day comes that they also want to get married.

“Should the children of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge wish to marry, they will be required to seek the sovereign’s permission,” a royal expert said.

Prince Harry and Markle have always been very protective of their son. In fact, one of the reasons why they quit The Firm was because they wanted to afford him with the privacy that he needs and deserves.

In March, a source told Us Weekly that they decided to leave the United Kingdom to shield Archie from the negativity and tension that he could be exposed to if he grows up in England.

“Harry knows what it’s like to grow up in the spotlight, and he wants to give Archie the most normal upbringing possible,” the source said.
