Kate Middleton officially returned to her royal engagements earlier this month.

Following the recent lockdown, Middleton and Prince William performed their royal duties via video calls. But now that the United Kingdom is slowly returning to normal, the royal couple is able to publicly attend some of their engagements.

According to Life & Style, Middleton was once dubbed as Lazy Katie because she didn’t have enough work background when she first joined the royal family.

In fact, Queen Elizabeth reportedly had concerns about Middleton because she didn’t think that she’s suited to be Prince William’s wife.

While speaking with Express, royal author Katie Nicholl said that the monarch didn’t like the fact that Middleton didn’t have a full-time job. And this was reportedly something unacceptable for Her Majesty.

After the couple tied the knot, Nicholl said that the queen became concerned about Middleton’s frivolous displays of wealth.

“If Kate was not with William at Balmoral then the couple were skiing or holidaying in Mustique. Britain was now in recession and such frivolous displays of wealth were unpalatable to the queen,” the source said.

But through the years, Middleton was able to prove herself to the queen. And Life & Style claimed that Prince William’s wife has even exceeded the monarch’s expectations.

“The queen is beyond impressed. Truthfully, there are days when Kate feels overwhelmed, but she never would want the queen to know that,” the source said.

However, Meghan Markle’s relationship with the queen is quite different. When she first joined the royal family, the queen immediately welcomed Markle into the fold.

In fact, they even went on their first solo engagement together just months after Markle and Prince Harry tied the knot. However, tabloids claimed that their relationship deteriorated over time.

According to reports, the queen was upset with Markle for encouraging Prince Harry to quit The Firm. The 94-year-old allegedly knows that Prince Harry wouldn’t have had the guts to leave the royal family if he’s not married to Markle.

But in the book Finding Freedom, authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand said that this wasn’t the case. The queen and Markle never had a falling out. And the rumors that the queen was upset with the Sussexes for quitting aren’t true either.

The authors also denied the claims that Markle and Middleton feuded with each other. They said that the sisters-in-law were simply not close.
