Meghan Markle, reportedly, wants a change of scenery for her 39th birthday.

After quarantining in Los Angeles since March, she and Prince Harry are, reportedly, planning a trip to Montecito.

According to Daily Mail, Markle will invite her closest friends to her bash. And before anyone joins them on their celebration, they all must get a fast-tracked COVID-19 test first.

“Whatever she ends up doing for her birthday, Meghan said it will be low-key. She said she doesn’t want to come across as being careless and irresponsible,” a source said.

According to New Idea, next month’s celebration will be very different from how Markle celebrated her birthday last year.

She and Prince Harry had a low-key celebration at Frogmore Cottage in Windsor with her family. She also received a gourmet carrot cake from Stoke Newington-based Luminary Bakery.

Daily Mail’s Richard Eden said that the bells at Westminster Abbey won’t ring to commemorate Markle’s birthday.

“I hear that Westminster Abbey will not ring its bells for Meghan’s birthday next month. They are due to ring for Princess Anne’s birthday, 11 days after Meghan’s. And they will chime again to celebrate the Duchess of Cambridge turning 39 in January,” Eden said.

A spokesperson for Westminster Abbey also responded to Eden’s claims.

“The bells are usually rung to mark the birthdays of senior members of the Royal Family, and through the line of succession to the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge and their children,” the spokesperson said.

Last year, OK! magazine claimed that Markle was suffering from the so-called birthday blues. The Duchess of Sussex initially wanted to celebrate an intimate birthday with the royal family but her plan couldn’t push through because of her issues with the British clan.

“Word is, Kate is seething and couldn’t wait to give Meghan a piece of her mind. Meghan had been looking forward to a warm, intimate affair with her loved ones, but in the end, it was more of a showdown,” the source said.

The insider said that Prince William and Prince Harry also refused to celebrate Markle’s birthday back then.

“Things were tense with the brothers before, but now they’re at a boiling point. Many blame Meghan for the rift… yet again,” the source said.

However, one should take the claims made by the tabloid with a grain of salt. Markle didn’t celebrate her birthday with the royal family last year because of an alleged showdown.
