Queen Elizabeth is, allegedly, selling her homemade gin to help the royal family recover from their ongoing cash crisis.

New Idea published a misleading headline by saying that the queen is selling her own homemade gin. But what the article is about is the Royal Collection Trust launching the queen favorite gin, which uses ingredients collected from the monarch’s garden.

The queen, despite the royal family’s cash crisis, won’t be selling the gin herself. But according to Mirror, the venture is being done to help address the millions of revenue that the royal family lost during the coronavirus pandemic.

Eight hours after the queen’s gin was launched, it was confirmed that the product was already sold out. But more bottles will be available soon and pre-orders are now available via the Buckingham Palace website.

The queen’s gin costs $50 and it is infused with citrus and herbal notes. Other ingredients include lemon, verbena, hawthorn berries, and mulberry leaves.

The gin is also placed in a clear and turquoise glass bottle that features a coronet and a wreath of flowers with a gold circle.

According to Angela Kelly, the queen’s style advisor and dressmaker, the monarch also loves gin. In her book, The Other Side of the Coin: The Queen, The Dresser, and the Wardrobe she said that a little gin and water always come in handy for Her Majesty.

There are also claims suggesting that the queen loves to drink when she’s relaxing and she consumes four glasses of alcohol a day.

According to The Independent, the queen drinks gin and Dubonnet with lemon before lunch. She also has a glass of wine at lunch, and a dry martini and a glass of champagne at night.

Other than her fondness for alcohol, the queen is also a huge fan of chocolates. Former royal chef Darren McGrady said that Her Majesty also loves kale and quinoa.

“When you get older, you know what you like, and the Queen has her favorites. When alone she will have maybe grilled sole with vegetables and a bowl of fruit or pudding. She is very disciplined with her diet but is happy to try new things and likes kale and quinoa,” he told the Evening Standard.

And if there’s one thing that the queen doesn’t like, it’s, reportedly, garlic. In fact, she has banned it from the entire palace.
