Disney previously made known to the public their Southern California resort re-opening plans in June. The said plan comes in phases where the shopping and dining establishments was first tasked to reopen on July 9.

Furthermore, the Disneyland Park and California Adventure Park is still set to re-open next week, July 17: same day of the grand park’s 65th year in the business.  The resort hotels and theme parks were lined up to re-open in the later date of July but as of the moment, the re-opening plan is still uncertain. The re-opening plans of the resort’s them parks and hotels, at the moment, is "still on hold," HollywoodReporter wrote.

Since Disney reopened on July 9, the COVID-19 best response was strictly implemented: physical distancing, wearing of face masks of any kind, and constant temperature checks. Since then, Downtown Disney was able to run few of its dining district’s restaurants that has large decks.

However, due to the surge of coronavirus cases in California, having 4,056 new cases on Thursday July 2, indoor operative workforce for businesses such as movie theaters, zoos, cardrooms, museums, and restaurants was suspended, following Governor Gavin Newsom executive order on Wednesday, July 1. Shopping malls is still allowed to operate and as well as patio dining option in restaurants.

Such factors all greatly contributed to the unclear plans in re-opening its theme parks and hotels. According to HollywoodReporter, the state of California has unbacked and disapproved Disney’s proposal in re-opening its theme parks and hotels, and won’t issue further details until July 4. The Office of the Governor has expressed their thoughts about the re-opening plans and said it was ‘too dangerous’, looking at the COVID-19 figures of the state.

Disney is also struggling with the demand from numerous park unions who bids for greater and more effective safety protocols. Having Disney employees tested frequently for COVID-19 is one demand from the said park unions. However, Disney’s word about the current park union’s demand is yet to be published.

Just few weekends ago, some of the park unions protested outside the Anaheim park aiming for their demand to be heard. In addition, a pre-agreement between the said park unions was established aiming for Disney to begin recalling the furloughed casts and employees upon its re-opening.

On the brighter side, even with the Anaheim theme park and hotels re-opening uncertainty, Downtown Disney, Anaheim’s outdoor shopping mall, will push through its re-opening plan next week amid the state’s newly established business restrictions in response to the spike of coronavirus cases.

Meanwhile, Walt Disney World will be fully functioning by the end of July. The said establishment distributed thermometers to their respective employees, to be used before shift. And if tested positive of COVID-19, they will subjected to two weeks paid off for quarantine purposes.
