Reckoning continues to happen for sex offenders in the entertainment industry as another prominent name has come out to talk about his involvement in sexual misconduct. The celebrity involved is musician Ryan Adams, who has been accused by a number of women.

In an exclusive letter sent to the Daily Mail, the 45-year-old singer-songwriter expressed contrition over his actions, admitting that he had mistreated people over the course of his music career. Adams also admits that his apology will probably not be accepted by his victims and that he is okay with that.

Adam also revealed that he is now working to get sober with professional help and that he views his journey to sobriety as a priority in his life. That said, he also acknowledged that personal growth on his part does not absolve him of what he did to a number of his victims.

As recounted by The Hollywood Reporter, the road to this apology began with a story published in the New York Times last year, where a number of female musicians accused him of demanding sex in exchange for mentorship. The accusers also revealed that Adams would harass and emotionally and verbally abuse them if they refused.

One of Adams’ accusers was his own ex-wife, Mandy Moore. According to Moore, he subjected her to verbal harassment that erased all confidence she had in her music. On top of that, she said that he was so controlling that she found herself losing out on industry connections during an important time in her career. At the time, Adams disputed Moore’s allegations.

Adams is just one of a number of male celebrities that have had to contend with allegations of sexual assault. Recently, Mythbusters host Adam Savage had to deny allegations by his younger sister that he sexually assaulted her between the ages of seven and 10.

Savage’s sister Miranda Pacchiana claims Savage called himself “the raping blob” and then forced himself on her. Savage has called the allegations “groundless and offensive,” while their mother, Karen Savage, alleges that Pacchiana suffers from mental health challenges.

Actor Ansel Elgort has also been accused by a Twitter user of sexual assault when she was a minor. Two women have also come out to accuse singer Justin Bieber of sexually assaulting them back in 2014 and 2015.

Elgort has denied the allegations, while Bieber has countered with a defamation lawsuit against his two accusers. Bieber is asking for $10 million in damages from both his accusers, for a total of $20 million.
