The spy thriller Mr. & Mrs. Smith might have released 15 years ago but its director Doug Liman had to say something quite interesting about his experience of working with Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie in 2005.

The controversial movie released about 15 years ago and Pitt and Jolie’s on-screen chemistry won the hearts of millions. The film also became the turning point in the marriage of the Troy actor and Jennifer Aniston.

The Hollywood hunk and the Friends alum decided to split even before the release of the film. The film was surrounded by many controversies and its director Liman spilled the beans about the sizzling scene between his two lead actors in an interview in the past.

The director revealed in an interview in 2005 that there were certain occasions on the set when Jolie managed to shock him and Pitt, He admitted his embarrassment in shooting the steamy scenes in the film because he belonged to a relatively conservative family.

The interviewer also asked him whether his lead actors felt awkward as well or not. However, Liman told that both Pitt and Angie were okay with it. He felt Jolie was more comfortable doing those scenes than him and Pitt.

Doug Liman added that Angelina Jolie’s scandalous remarks would often shock him and Brad Pitt. On the other hand, the Maleficent actress was least embarrassed according to him.

The director also opened up about his working experience on sets. He said Pitt and Jen’s divorce proceedings had an impact on the editing process of his film. Liman shared Dave Matalon and he had debates over making a scene less sensual so that Aniston’s fans are not upset, Pinkvilla reports.

Doug Liman admitted he wished Joe Strummer to sing Mondo Bongo. The director found the number very seductive and appropriate for the steamy scene. However, Matalon thought differently about the scene and its possible impact on a section of the viewers.

Matalon said he was worried about Jen’s loyal fans and was apprehensive of making them angry. He felt the steamy scene would make these fans hate Jolie and Pitt. He wanted to get the scene edited as there was a fear in his mind that Aniston’s fans would feel Angie used her charms to seduce Pitt.

Meanwhile, Jennifer Aniston has been discreet and more or less cautious about discussing Angelina Jolie in interviews. However, there was an exception in 2008 when it was reported that the Friends alum mentioned that Jolie handled her romance with Brad Pitt in an “uncool” manner, WION reports.
