As King Charles III's coronation approaches in less than two months, a Bank Holiday weekend packed with festivities is eagerly anticipated. The official coronation is slated for Saturday, May 6, followed by a captivating coronation concert on Sunday, May 7.

Held at Windsor Castle and broadcasted on the BBC, the concert promises performances from a mix of renowned global music icons and contemporary stars. Last year's royal concert at Buckingham Palace, called the Party at the Palace, celebrated the late Queen's Platinum Jubilee and featured performances from Rod Stewart, Diana Ross, and Queen.

Here's a comprehensive guide to the upcoming coronation concert:

Date and Venue

The coronation concert is scheduled for the evening of Sunday, May 7, just before the Bank Holiday on Monday, May 8. For the first time, the concert will be held on Windsor Castle's East Lawn.

Performance Line-up

While the official line-up has not been announced, rumors suggest that Lionel Richie and Andrew Lloyd Webber, who also performed at the Queen's Platinum Jubilee concert, will open the show. The Coronation Choir, comprising enthusiastic community choirs and amateur singers from across the UK—including refugee choirs, NHS choirs, LGBT+ singing groups, and deaf signing choirs—will make an appearance.

Unconfirmed Non-Performers

Although no musicians have officially confirmed declining to perform at the coronation, reports indicate that both Ed Sheeran and Adele, who were highly sought after by the King, are unable to participate. Harry Styles, Kylie Minogue, and Elton John are also rumored to have declined offers to perform at the event.

Ticket Information

Unfortunately, the public ballot for concert tickets is now closed. The 10,000 tickets will be divided among members of the public, who will learn if they've won free tickets by late April, and volunteers from Charles and Camilla's charities.

Winners will be selected based on the geographical distribution of the UK's population rather than on a first-come, first-served basis. Ticketmaster will allocate 5,000 people a pair of tickets each in the ballot.

The remaining tickets will be distributed among organizations supporting young people, the military, and the environment, as well as local communities and the Commonwealth.

The coronation concert offers a unique opportunity for attendees to witness a historic event while enjoying an unforgettable musical experience. As anticipation builds for the official line-up announcement, fans eagerly await the chance to see their favorite artists perform in celebration of King Charles III's coronation. This once-in-a-lifetime event promises to be a memorable and festive occasion for all involved.
