The gossip surrounding “Don’t Worry Darling” continues to make headlines these past few weeks. But, in the latest rounds of claims, involving Chris Pine and the “spit-gate” theories, the actor’s camp has broken silence.

A rep for the 42-year-old actor dismissed the claims that Harry Styles spat on him at the premiere of their film at the Venice International Film Festival on Monday. As noted, the incident did not occur, adding that the allegations are “ridiculous,” according to Variety.

In a statement to the publication, the rep said it is a “complete fabrication and the result of an odd online illusion that is clearly deceiving and allows for foolish speculation.”

The same spokesperson also noted, “Just to be clear, Harry Styles did not spit on Chris Pine. There is nothing but respect between these two men and any suggestion otherwise is a blatant attempt to create drama that simply does not exist.”

A source told the outlet, as well, that there was no tension around the two actors during the event. Moreover, it is pointed out that no one from the venue flagged a potential spitting incident.

Variety later shared that it has reached out to the “Watermelon Sugar” singer’s rep, as well. But, no official word has surfaced from his camp yet.

It all comes after a clip of Harry Styles taking his seat next to Chris Pine at the premiere of Don’t Worry Darling in Venice went viral across media platforms.

People, in its recent report covering the matter, which has since been dubbed as “spit-gate” by netizens, noted that as the “As It Was” artist bends down to take his seat, his lips move before the “Star Trek” star looks down and stops clapping. The latter then shakes his head, reaches to grab his sunglasses, and continues to look amused.

Many appeared to have interpreted the series of movements between the two celebrities as the moment Styles had supposedly spit on his co-star, with Pine acknowledging it.

It is not the only clip of Chris Pine and Harry Styles that has made headlines following Monday's event. As it happened, a separate video from earlier that day has gone viral, as well, due to the former’s “level of calm” at that moment, according to the Daily Mail.

Earlier on Monday, the two celebrities sat down for an interview as part of their press conference for “Don’t Worry Darling.” The video in question reportedly shows the “Wonder Woman” actor seemingly “zoning out” and “dissociating” from the moment following his co-star’s “bizarre” statements.

The publication quoted Styles, saying, “You know my favorite thing about the movie? Like, it feels like a movie, it feels like a real, like ‘go to the theater’ film movie that you know, you kind of… the reason why you go to watch something on the big screen.”
