Chris Rock did not reportedly know about Jada Pinkett Smith’s condition. He had no idea that the actress has alopecia.

Page Six said that a source made the claim to TMZ on Monday, following the altercation at the Oscars. As added, the comedian has no “mean bone in his body.”

Will Smith slapped the “Saturday Night Live” alum on stage after poking fun at his wife’s bald head. He quipped, “Jada, I love you. ‘G.I. Jane 2,’ can’t wait to see it.”

The “King Richard” actor is stated to have laughed off the remark at first. However, the “Gotham” actress rolled her eyes upon hearing the joke, causing her husband to storm the stage and smack Rock across the face.

Chris Rock seemingly tried to defend the quip he made after receiving the slap from the actor. He stated it was “just a G.I. Jane joke.”

But, to the shock of many, Will Smith yelled and warned the comedian to keep the name of his wife “out of [his] f***ing mouth.” This, then, prompted the presenter to turn the tune of the moment, saying it was the “greatest night in the history of television.”

He has since maintained his silence about the incident. He has not made any official statement, although he reportedly refused to file a report against Smith to the authorities.

Jada Pinkett Smith has not shied away from her condition. She has been vocal about her suffering from alopecia over the years, according to Us Weekly.

In a 2018 episode of “Red Table Talk,” the actress recalled how “terrifying” it was when it first began. She revealed that she was in the shower one day and “had just handfuls of hair” in her hands.

Pinkett Smith continued that she had been wearing a turban to cover the hair loss. She added that it was not easy for her to discuss the topic.

Last summer, the 50-year-old celebrity debuted a shaved head. She told fans and followers that it would become “a little bit more difficult for [her] to hide it,” so she decided to share it with them to avoid questions.

While some individuals appeared to have defended Will Smith’s actions, slapping Chris Rock on live television, others are critical. There are even netizens who dug up an old video of, also, “making fun of a bald person,” according to Cheat Sheet.

As explained, the clip was from 1991, wherein Smith made an appearance on “The Arsenio Hall Show.” He singled out the bass player in the show’s band and quipped about the artist, having had to “wax his head every morning” because of his bald head.

The audience reportedly made noises of disapproval upon hearing what he had stated. He, then, shot back and said, “it’s a joke, come on," which critics emphasized to be similar to Chris Rock's words at the Oscars.
