Betty White allegedly left her $75 million estates to her pets and not to her stepchildren.
In its Jan. 24 issue, National Enquirer claimed that White’s stepchildren are fuming mad at her for prioritizing her pets over them. In fact, before she passed away, they were already trying to convince the Golden Girls actress to leave her estate with them.
“Betty wasn’t always particularly close with them because she struggled with replacing their mom, who died just two years before she married Allen. And when he passed, I guess she felt they didn’t need much from her since they were all older and established in their own lives,” the source said.
The source added that White’s stepchildren might think they deserve more from the late actress. But the Hot in Cleveland star was so much closer to her pets than her husband’s kids.
Meanwhile, Globe claimed that there’s also some controversy surrounding White’s nude photos from back in the day.
Years ago, David Letterman teased White about an alleged photo of a woman that looked like her on a deck of cards. The veteran actress joked that the woman indeed looked like her, but she never confirmed or denied if it was her photo.
A source said that now that White is no longer around to defend herself, the last thing that her family wants is for a scandal like this to make headlines.
“The last thing she ever wanted was to be dragged into a sex scandal. She was known for her bawdy sense of humor, but she didn’t find this at all funny. She once admitted, there’s a bad side of me you’ve never seen – and you’re never going to see it either. When the topless pictures surfaced, her cover was blown and she was devastated,” the source said.
However, one should take the tabloids’ claims with a grain of salt.
There’s no indication that White’s stepchildren aren’t included in the $75 million estates that she left behind. But it is true that the late actress supports a slew of animal charities.
In fact, there’s an ongoing challenge under her name where all dogs adopted on her birthday on Jan. 17 should be named Betty White. And those that can’t adopt dogs may opt to donate any amount to help support the causes that the actress used to support.
