Sherlock Season 5 is among the much-awaited series today. Though BBC One has yet to officially announce its renewal, series creators Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss have revealed that a fifth installment is totally happening. If so, what can viewers expect?

Sherlock Season 5 spoilers and predictions

Rumors are rife that Sherlock Season 5 would start where the fourth installment left off. No one really knows what is in store for Sherlock Holmes (Benedict Cumberbatch) and John H. Watson (Martin Freeman) in the forthcoming new episodes. However, Mark Gatiss, previously, revealed that they wanted to do the “Red-Headed League” episode.

Steven Moffat and Mark, allegedly, want to consider having this arc, which introduces Professor Jim Moriarty (Andrew Scott), in Sherlock Season 5. For starters, “The Read-Headed League is an episode of the Sherlock Holmes series that was aired on Sept. 22, 1985, in the United Kingdom via ITV Channel.

The plot focuses on a London pawnbroker named Jabez Wilson, who told Sherlock Holmes and Dr.  John H. Watson that his business has been struggling for quite some time already. Jabez told Sherlock and Watson that his assistant, Vincent Spaulding, encouraged him to get a high-paying job amid the crisis that his own business is experiencing. Days after getting hired, Jabez learned that the team has been dissolved and that its operations have ended already.

Sherlock, then, paid Jabez’s assistant a visit. However, the egocentric detective noticed that Vincent’s trouser was dirty and he started having doubts with him. Together with Police Inspector Jones, Mr. Merryweather, and Dr. Watson, Sherlock confronted the thieves, who are trying to rob Jabez. The foursome, then, found out that John Clay, who is the grandson of a Royal Duke, and his assistant, Archie, were the people who made up the “Red-Headed League” thing so they could keep Jabez away from his shop.

After some interrogations, Sherlock Holmes found out that Professor Jim Moriarty was the brain behind the evil plan. It remains to be seen if this specific episode would be included in the forthcoming Sherlock Season 5, which is even rumored to introduce a new villain named Dr. Grimesby Roylott. But, for sure, it would add more excitement if Steven Moffat and Mark Gatiss decide to go this way.
