Angelina Jolie is, allegedly, seething at Gal Gadot for stealing her role in Cleopatra.
According to National Enquirer, Jolie helped develop the concept for the more modern version of Cleopatra in the hopes that she will be the one to play the lead role.
But the award-winning actress recently found out that the role has been given to Gadot.
A source told the tabloid that it has always been Jolie’s dream to play the role of Cleopatra because it was the role that made Elizabeth Taylor an icon. And the mom of six was also, allegedly, convinced that she will win an Academy Award for best actress if she will be given the titular role.
However, since Gadot will be playing the part, Jolie’s dreams are, allegedly, crushed. And she couldn’t also help but feel upset with the Wonder Woman lead star.
To make things worse for Brad Pitt’s ex-wife, Jolie has, allegedly, been helping develop the script for Cleopatra. And she has also, allegedly, been meeting up with the directors for the project for years.
But in just a snap of a finger, all of Jolie’s efforts went down the drain because of Gadot. As such, the source claimed that there are fears Jolie would confront Gadot if they run into each other anytime soon.
This isn’t the first time that Jolie and Gadot were linked to each other professionally. In 2017, there were reports that Gadot will also replace Jolie in the Bride of Frankenstein.
According to The Observer, the producers are waiting if Jolie would accept the role. And if she doesn’t, they would gladly pass on the torch to Gadot. However, the latter’s schedule is also quite tight because of all her engagements.
And just last month, Jolie and Gadot’s names were once again linked together after it was revealed that they are no longer the highest-paid actresses for 2020. Rather, the title has been given to Modern Family star, Sofia Vergara.
According to Forbes, Vergara earned $500,000 per episode on Modern Family. And the actress also received $10 million from her gig as a judge in America’s Got Talent. Vergara’s net worth is estimated at $43 million.
Jolie came in second place with her estimated earnings of $35.5 million. Even though the actress didn’t star in a lot of projects last year and this year, the bulk of her income came from The Eternals, which has yet to be released.
Gadot, on the other hand, reportedly, earned $31.5 million.
