The extremely popular, k-pop girl band Blackpink has recently added another feather to their hat. This year which later turned out to be a complete mayhem for everyone, started off as a pretty likable one for the music industry at least.

Lady Gaga who hadn’t released an LP since 2016’s "Joanne" came up with her gamechanger "Chromatica," - not alone but in collaboration with music stars such as English music vet Elton John, pop icon Ariana Grande, and South Korean sensational band Blackpink.

In collaboration with the girl band, Gaga rolled out the high-profile cut "Sour Candy," a single that went on to rule the charts.

The latest edition of the Billboard’s Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart has seen Lady Gaga and Blackpink’s superhit “Sour Candy” plunging from No. 16 to No. 18.  The decline is incredibly small and impressive in the sense that it’s a cut that has already been on the top slot of the chart for so long. This kind of trend is pretty unusual and speaks volumes of the artists who made contributions.

It’s awesome to note that all calculated, “Sour Candy” has now spent 21 consecutive turns on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart which may not sound like a record when considering it all in general. But if we only consider music produced by artists who trace their origin to South Korea, it’s an impressive record. The hit song has tied the records of Psy and Snoop Dogg’s “Hangover,” which also stayed strong on the chart for 21 consecutive weeks in the year 2019.

Seemingly, Blackpink is on a run as they are breaking records every week. With the same song, the girl band tied with several other hit singles for the second-most weeks on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart among artists from the Asian nation.

Psy and CL’s superhit dance song “Daddy” and  Steve Aoki’s collaboration with South Korean boy band BTS that resulted in “Waste It on Me,”, both stayed on the Hot Dance/Electronic Songs chart for 20 long weeks.

However, now the duet is on its way to make the record, one more turn on the chart, Blackpink will the first Asian band to pin a song on the chart for more than 21 weeks.

Blackpink is unstoppable and unshakable right now. With more music in the line, it will be interesting to see what happens next.
