Prince Harry’s recent statement about the US elections is, allegedly, causing tensions in the royal household.
According to Globe, the royal family is convinced that Prince Harry is out to get them with the help of his wife, Meghan Markle.
And the Duke of Sussexes’ recent comments is, allegedly, a tell-tale sign that he is contemplating about becoming an American citizen.
After rumors swirled that the couple recorded behind the scenes footage before the Megxit, the tabloid couldn’t help but speculate on what Prince Harry and Markle would do next.
“What’s next? Taking a page from the super-lucrative Kardashian playbook for a reality show, Keeping Up With the Sussexes? They’re also speaking out politically, pleading with Americans to vote. That’s a huge no-no! Harry’s never voted because British royals must remain neutral. The family is horrified – and takes it as a signal he’s going to betray his family and become an American citizen,” the source said.
The insider also said that Prince Harry and Markle have seemingly decided that if they can’t be in line for the throne, no one else can either.
“Their actions appear deliberate to undermine the monarchy Harry clearly despises for the way his mother, Princess Diana was treated. Harry knows that without Meghan, he’d have been relegated to a life in his brother’s shadow – and just like Andrew is with Charles. Flaunting his soaring Hollywood star as hope fades for the future of the monarchy is his revenge – and Andrew is enjoying the spectacle too,” the source said.
However, one should take the tabloid’s claims with a grain of salt. Prince Harry and Markle aren’t plotting the ultimate betrayal against the royal family.
While it is possible for Prince Harry to become a dual citizen if he stays in the United States for several years, it’s unlikely for him to renounce his British citizenship for good.
His son, Archie is also a dual citizen because his parents are from the United Kingdom and the United States.
And even though it’s true that the royal family doesn’t comment on politics, it is important to note that Prince Harry is no longer considered as a working royal. As such, his statement about the US elections is based entirely on his stand and not a reflection of the royal family’s opinion on the matter.
