Chilling Adventures of Sabrina ended with four seasons in December 2020. Now, showrunner Roberto Aguirre-Sacasa revealed that Riverdale characters Archie (KJ Apa), Betty (Lili Reinhart), Jughead (Cole Sprouse), and Veronica Camila (Mendes) would’ve made an appearance in the fifth season.

Aguirre-Sacasa, who also serves as showrunner of Riverdale, recently discussed his plans for Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 5 – if ever it was not canceled by Netflix. He said that the Core Four of the teen drama would’ve been introduced in the supernatural horror.

The series, which is based on the Archie comic books of the same name, follows teenager Sabrina Spellman (Kiernan Shipka) as she navigates her life as a normal teenager and a witch. She is living in the town of Greendale with her aunts Zelda (Miranda Otto) and Hilda (Lucy Davis).

After her 16th birthday, Sabrina’s life gets complicated and she was forced to face her witch identity. She attended the Academy of the Unseen Arts, where her dark magic was honed. Along the way, she learned how to use her powers and confront the darkness inside her.

In a recent interview with Deadline, Aguirre-Sacasa shared what would have been his plan if ever the fifth season of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina was pushed through. He said that he had crafted the potential ending and included exciting plots.

The showrunner said that he finished editing the ending of season 4 at the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic. After that, Aguirre-Sacasa pitched the story of Chilling Adventures of Sabrina season 5 to Netflix, which would have seen a Riverdale crossover.

Archie, Betty, Jughead, Veronica, and other characters would’ve turned into witches and warlocks. They will go head to head against the witches and warlocks of Greendale. But while Netflix was also excited about the idea, the showrunner said they didn’t proceed with it due to the pandemic.

“Netflix was excited about that idea but due to the pandemic, it didn’t feel possible,” Aguirre-Sacasa noted.

Even though Chilling Adventures of Sabrina has come to an end, Aguirre-Sacasa remains as Riverdale’s showrunner. Despite the cancellation, it is possible that some characters eventually show up in the nearby town where Archie and the rest reside.

Many were still hoping that a crossover between the two series is on the table. After all, both towns have been often mentioned in the two shows. In addition, Chilling Adventures of Sabrina and Riverdale usually hang out together, furthering crossover speculations.
