Kate Middleton recently attended an engagement with the United States First Lady Jill Biden. During their visit to Connor Downs Academy preschool in Cornwall, an American reporter asked the Duchess of Cambridge about the birth of Prince Harry and Meghan Markle’s second daughter, Lilibet Diana Mountbatten-Winsor. A body language expert claimed that Prince William’s wife didn’t expect this kind of question.

According to body language expert Judi James, the questions about Lilibet Diana have thrown Middleton off balance and she’s taken aback when asked about her newborn niece. First, NBC News reporter Andrea Mitchell asked her if she had any wishes for your new niece Lilibet. The Duchess of Cambridge gave a reply: “I wish her all the very best.”

She also said that she hasn’t met Lilibet Diana and she “can’t wait to meet her.” Then, another journalist asked if she’s already FaceTimed Prince Harry and Markle’s second child. Middleton quickly answered by saying: "No, I haven't no." Because of the unexpected questions, the press officers reportedly shooed the reporters to end the press conference.

While Middleton seemed to handle the questions properly, James claimed that the Duchess of Cambridge was put in an awkward position. Speaking to The Sun, she explained that Prince William’s wife answered very well but it’s obvious that she was taken aback when asked about Lilibet Diana during the event.

“Even as Kate looks up here as the question is shouted out there is a look of some alarm on her face as though not expecting to be addressed directly,” James said.

But, even though Middleton wasn’t prepared for the questions, the body language expert noted that she looks delighted talking about the newest member of the Royal Family. She pointed out that the high vocal-toned ‘Ah!’ of Duchess of Cambridge hinted that she’s delighted with the questions about Lilibet Diana, though thrown unexpectedly to her.

Prince Harry and Markle welcomed their second child on June 4, 2021. They named her after her paternal great-grandmother, Queen Elizabeth II, and her late grandmother, Princess Diana. After her birth and revealing their first daughter’s name to the public, the Duke and Duchess of Sussex were criticized by many for using the “Lilibet,” Her Majesty’s childhood nickname.

Their decision to name their daughter Lilibet confused many royal followers since they’ve made a series of allegations against the Firm in the past months. There were speculations that Prince Harry and Markle didn’t inform Queen Elizabeth that they’re naming their newborn after her. Yet, the couple made it clear that they asked Her Majesty’s permission before announcing their daughter’s name to the public.
