Meghan Markle and Princess Eugenie have been staying in touch and bonding over their pregnancies despite talks that the latter might have been upset to be upstaged by the Sussexes.

A source told People that Prince Harry's cousin is close to Meghan and they have known about each other's pregnancies and due dates before anyone else. Their shared experiences have brought the family closer despite Meghan and Harry deciding to go on a different path.

Eugenie and her husband, Jack Brooksbank, welcomed their son, August, on Feb. 9. A week later, Meghan and Harry confirmed that they are expecting their second child. Royal observers said that the Duke and Duchess of Sussex "overshadowed" the Brooksbank yet again, just like they did when Meghan was pregnant with Archie Harrison.

In 2018, Meghan apparently stole Eugenie's thunder when she told guests at the latter's wedding reception that she was in the family way. In the biography Finding Freedom, royal authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand confirmed that Sarah Ferguson, the Duchess of York and Eugenie's mother, was terribly upset at the Duke and Duchess of Sussex.

But royal commentators Roberta Fiorito and Rachel Bowie of the Royally Obsessed podcast said that Eugenie might be thanking Meghan and Harry for doing their second pregnancy announcement so soon after the birth of her first-born. They claimed that Eugenie might be relishing in the privacy than feeling the pressure to tell the world details about her baby's birth if she were constantly in the news.

Fiorito and Bowie said that royal fans are more focused on Harry and Meghan's new baby but this is more of a perk for the Brooksbanks as they are not under the same royal spotlight as the Sussexes. They said that the Brooksbank couple simply wants to be "under the radar."

Eugenie, Jack and baby August are currently living at Frogmore Cottage, the home of Harry, Meghan and Archie in the U.K. Reports stated that Harry and Eugenie discussed this arrangement just a few months after Eugenie confirmed her pregnancy, attesting to the closeness of the royal cousins.

Harry and Eugenie are best friends, aside from being cousins, because of their close age gap. They also are so much alike as the second-born children. As teens and young adults, Harry and Eugenie sought each other's advice, especially when it came to dating. The Duke of Sussex is said to be happy with the idea that the Brooksbanks will be in his house when he returns to London in June 2021. (Business Times)
