Joe Wicks, popularly known as the Body Coach and who has been leading physical education classes online during the coronavirus lockdown in London, has successfully recovered from hand surgery.

According to the BBC, the 33-year-old had previously gotten involved in a bike accident that required an operation on his hand. However, wires in his hand became infected after the operation, requiring another round of surgery.

Wicks says he went to the Great Ormond Street Hospital after one of his online physical education classes, which has now raised about £200,000 for the United Kingdom’s National Health Service (NHS). The pain, he says, was so excruciating and felt like “liquid hot magma.”

With the operation a success, Wicks also extended his thanks to the men and women of the NHS, who he said continue to work even with the severity of the coronavirus pandemic. He expressed how much he admired them and how they could dedicate their lives to making sick people feel better.

As for his online workouts, Metro reports that Wicks has returned to it with some modifications. While he recuperates from surgery, his 29-year-old wife Rosie will be the one leading the workouts. The first video featuring Rosie had Wicks in a suit explaining the moves that Rosie was doing. Wicks also quizzed viewers on history, asking questions such as which planet Apollo 11 landed on. The workout itself was designed for kids and consisted of planks, burpees, and squats.

Fan reception to the Rosie-led workout was positive. Aside from telling her that she was brilliant, people also called the couple’s marriage “relationship goals.” Yet another called the pair a “fabulous couple” that gave them “life.” Calls were also made to make the couple workout a regular thing, suggesting either a weekly or monthly partner workout on Wicks’ Youtube channel.

Wicks and his wife may need to continue their online workouts for a longer period as coronavirus cases in the United Kingdom and around the world continue to rise. According to The Guardian, the number of confirmed COVID-19 cases in the United Kingdom is now at 190,584 people, with new cases making up 3,985 of that total. That total is distributed throughout the United Kingdom, with 126,346 are in England, 12,266 are in Scotland, 10,524 are in Wales, and 3,836 are in Northern Ireland. COVID-19 has caused the deaths of 28,734 people in the United Kingdom.

Around the world, there are now 3,435,894 confirmed COVID-19 cases, as per the May 4 situation report of the World Health Organization. Deaths from COVID-19 worldwide are now at 239,604 people.
