Henry Cavill delayed The Witcher's production

Hollywood life stated that the second season of The Witcher has been in the wraps since the early part of this year; however, the COVID-19 global pandemic hit the production, leading to the halting of activities.

Adding to the delay is the injury experienced by the lead star Henry during the series's set. But for the time being, reports share that he is still recovering and will surely get back on track once he does.

Henry is back for the series' second season, but he needs more time to recover from his minor leg muscle injury. According to Deadline, the happening took place during an "assault course" while he was on top of the trees and with a harness.

The Witcher season 2: New characters and story details

Moreover, the production was first announced to begin after its first halt on Aug. 17 but was stopped in Nov. due to COVID-19 positives among the staff, per Digitalspy. To date, it states that the production is expected to resume next year.

On the other hand, new faces will join the second season of The Witcher, namely Yasen Atour (Coën Agnes Bjorn), GOT's Kristofer Jivju (Nivellen), Agnes Born (Vereena), Paul Bullion (Lambert), Mecia Simson (Francesca), and Aisha Fabienne Ross (Lydia).

The show will also welcome back Henry (Geralt of Rivia), as everyone knows, alongside original cast Freya Allan (Ciri) and Anya Chalotra (Yennefer).

Thue Ersted Rasmussen is supposed to be on the second season of the series to act as Eskel, but he had to give up the project due to scheduling problems. He shared that it is hard for him to severe with the series, but he is extremely thankful for the time he got spend on the production set.

The Witcher season 2: release date

Netflix did not disclose the series's premiere date, but it will surely hit the platform in 2021. Lauren further revealed that there is not target premiere date for The Witcher's second season, but will all the delays; it might come later than expected.

Netflix previously made known The Witcher spinoff in July 2020; it will be a prequel that goes by the title The Witcher: Blood Origin. It bottles up a 6-part live-action spinoff, where Lauren S. Hissrich revealed on Twitter that it would "dive deeper into the myth and lore of the Continent."
