Kate Middleton, allegedly, tried to upstage Meghan Markle during her Royal Train tour with Prince William this week.

According to New Idea, the Duchess of Cambridge opted to use a bag from Markle’s favorite brand, Strathberry.

It is highly likely that Middleton didn’t try to upstage Markle by bringing a snakeskin bag with her on tour.

But the tabloid, who regularly pits Middleton and Markle against each other, claimed that this was what the Duchess of Cambridge was trying to do.

New Idea also alleged that Prince William’s wife succeeded in trying to upstage Markle because the bag that she used on tour became sold out within hours.

A spokesperson for Strathberry gushed over Middleton’s decision to use one of their bags and thanked her for her impact on buyers.

When Markle was still a senior working royal, she also managed to sell out a handful of items within hours after being spotted with them.

In 2018, several publications coined the term the “Meghan Effect” because of her unrivaled ability to wear an item of clothing and make it an instant sellout.

Before she joined the royal family, Middleton also had the same effect on royal fans, which was coined as the “Kate Effect.”

Now that Markle is no longer a senior working royal, Middleton is the only female member of the British clan that has this power over the public.

However, this doesn’t mean that she’s trying to upstage her sister-in-law.

In the book Finding Freedom, authors Omid Scobie and Carolyn Durand revealed that Middleton and Markle were not at war with each other.

The authors also said that Middleton and Markle couldn’t be considered as best friends because their relationship never progressed into anything more than acquaintances.

Scobie and Durand said that the sisters-in-law just didn’t know each other very well. But this doesn’t mean that they were at odds with each other.

There have been several rumors about Middleton and Markle’s relationship before Finding Freedom was released.

At one point, Markle was accused of making Middleton cry during Princess Charlotte’s bridesmaid dress fitting.

However, Scobie and Durand also said that this narrative never took place.

The authors also revealed that the royal feud was between Prince William and Prince Harry and not their wives.

Prince William and Prince Harry’s falling out had to do with Markle and how fast her relationship with the Duke of Sussex progressed.
