Princess Diana’s brother, Charles, Earl Spencer wants BBC to conduct a massive investigation regarding the late royal’s controversial interview from 1995.

According to New Zealand Woman’s Weekly, Charles is convinced that Princess Diana was tricked into giving her interview with Martin Bashir for Panorama.

After all, Bashir was a relatively new journalist in 1995. So, he wouldn’t have had access to the Princess of Wales if not for Charles.

Prince William and Prince Harry’s uncle admitted that he was the one who introduced Bashir to his late sister. But he did so after being shown fake bank statements that suggested that senior courtiers and one of his employees were being paid by security services to gather information on the late royal.

Charles thought that it was Princess Diana’s right to set the record straight. And he didn’t also want the news about her affair with James Hewitt, as well as Prince Charles’ affair with Camilla to come from other sources.

After seeing the fake bank statements, Charles introduced Princess Diana to Bashir, and they became friends. Bashir managed to convince the Princess of Wales to sit down for an interview with him.

During the interview, Princess Diana talked about her struggles with bulimia, her thoughts about Prince Charles and Prince William’s future role as king, and more.

Following the interview, Queen Elizabeth ordered Princess Diana to divorce Prince Charles. And this incident left the late royal feeling isolated from the royal family.

Now, there are questions as to how Bashir scored an interview with Princess Diana since he was relatively new in the industry in the 1990s. Unfortunately, BBC cannot get answers from the journalist because he’s still battling COVID-19.

The BBC also claimed to have seen a letter written by Princess Diana, where she said that she never saw the fake bank statements. Unfortunately, the network couldn’t find the written document.

On Wednesday, Prince William released a statement about the investigation via a statement to People. He said that it’s a step in the right direction. He also said that this should establish the truth behind the actions that led to the Panorama interview, as well as the decisions made by the staff of BBC back in 1995.

Meanwhile, Princess Diana is also making headlines this week after the new season of The Crown aired. Fans of the hit Netflix show saw Prince Charles and Princess Diana’s relationship come to life in the series.
