The royal pair Meghan Markle and Prince Harry have created massive traction for themselves in the past months after they started to take on speaking engagements in America.

Both Meghan Markle and Prince Harry made their first appearance together on American TV for Time’s 100 Most Influential People. During their short snippet, the couple used this to voice out their concern regarding the Presidential election in America.

But lately, the couple has been quiet despite having several appearances last month.

Robert Lacey, royal historian, and author have revealed the reason behind this sudden silence from the royal couple.

Speaking to Express UK, Lacey explains that the ‘softening’ statements from the Duke and Duchess of Sussex might be a signal that the couple is trying to repair their damaged relationship with the British royal family.

It was reported before that Meghan Markle stated that she was being cautious in tackling sensitive and controversial matters for the sake of her husband and son, Archie Harrison.

But Lacey believes that it extends further from her husband and son, and it includes the royal family.

"Meghan has recently said she is avoiding controversial topics for fear of putting her family at risk. But I think there is another dimension to that, that she realizes the statements both she and Harry have put out there will be perceived as controversial,” Lacey reveals.

He further explained that Meghan Markle has come to an awareness that even though she stays neutral on important topics, her statements will be perceived one way or the other and that this has grounded her to be careful.

The couple created major backlash after they dabbled in political matters, which has led to their messages reaching the ears of the former President of the USA, Donald Trump, and one Republican representative.

Trump slammed both Harry and Meghan during one of his media appearances and this has caused a bitter relationship between the royal family and the US government.

Meghan's continuous involvement in US politics is no shock as she is known to be a political activist and an anti-Trump supported.

Fox News reported that the royal pair are going to continue their political activism beyond the US Presidential elections.

A representative of the couple revealed this to the media. The couple is most likely going to meet the new president of the United States as soon as he is sworn into office.
