Sharon Osbourne recently shared her thoughts regarding the letter that Prince Harry and Meghan Markle sent to four British tabloids.

In their letter, the royal couple said that they will no longer work with the Daily Express, the Daily Mirror, the Daily Mail, and The Sun.

On “The Talk,” Osbourne called the move confusing. The host said that she doesn’t think it’s necessary for the Duke and Duchess of Sussex to write a letter and then make it public.

“The thing is, cut yourself off, you can cut yourself off without sending a letter. You refuse all interviews. It’s an easy thing to do, but you can never stop the paparazzi from selling pictures to the papers. That’s the way the world works these days regarding the press,” she said.

Osbourne also said that just when Prince Harry and Markle have started to live a low-key life in the United States, they suddenly made their letter public. Osbourne said that she doesn’t understand what the royal couple’s motivation was.

Even though Prince Harry and Markle’s move is confusing for Osbourne, the host said that she understands where the couple’s frustrations are coming from. She also said that she knows why they feel so heartbroken by the treatment that they have been receiving from the press.

Osbourne also questioned the timing of the royal couple’s letter. After all, the entire world is dealing with the coronavirus pandemic. And just days ago, Prince Harry and Markle were praised for their charity work. The royal couple delivered meals at a food back in Los Angeles.

Meanwhile, in the Duke and Duchess of Sussex’s letter, they said that they will no longer offer themselves up as a currency for an economy of clickbait and distortion.

“It is gravely concerning that an influential slice of the media, over many years, has sought to insulate themselves from taking accountability for what they say or print—even when they know it to be distorted, false, or invasive beyond reason. When power is enjoyed without responsibility, the trust we all place in this much-needed industry is degraded,” they wrote.

Throughout the past couple of months, several publications in the United Kingdom have been writing degrading and offensive stories about Prince Harry and Markle.

At one point, the Daily Mail published photos of Markle’s handwritten letters to her dad, Thomas Markle Sr. Months later, Prince Harry and Markle filed a lawsuit against the publication.
