Meghan Markle made headlines last year for allegedly adopting a child from a third world country.

According to National Enquirer, Prince Harry’s wife wanted to follow in the footsteps of Angelina Jolie, who has three adopted children.

A source told the tabloid that Markle wants to be the first member of the royal family to adopt a child from an impoverished country.

The insider also claimed that Markle’s bold move is a charity stunt since she wants to be compared to the late Princess Diana.

In 2018, the same tabloid published a similar story where they claimed that Prince Harry and Markle want to adopt multiracial children just like Jolie.

Months later, Globe claimed that the royal couple already adopted a baby from South Africa. But during both occasions, Gossip Cop debunked the claims made by the tabloids.

It is important to note that during the second time that National Enquirer alleged that Markle was adopting a baby, the “Suits” alum was already pregnant with her son, Archie. As such, there was no reason for her to adopt a baby at that time.

Over a year has also passed and Markle and Prince Harry have not adopted a baby. In fact, the royal couple has never said anything about wanting to adopt ever.

While there have been several occasions wherein Markle was compared to Princess Diana, the former Hollywood star never said that she wanted to be like her mother-in-law.

In the book “Meghan: A Hollywood Princess,” royal author Andrew Morton spoke with one of Markle’s friends. The unnamed pal claimed that Markle wants to be Princess Diana 2.0.

Years ago, Markle and her friend watched Princess Diana’s funeral on television.

“According to family and friends, she was intrigued by Diana not just for her style but for her independent humanitarian mission, seeing her as a role model,” Morton wrote.

In his column for The Telegraph, Morton claimed that Markle’s desire to follow in Princess Diana’s footsteps backfired after her wedding to Prince Harry.

Unlike Princess Diana, Markle received countless criticisms for every single thing that she did as a royal.

Prince Harry’s wife also earned some ruthless nicknames such as Duchess Difficult. Princess Diana, on the other hand, was known as the People’s Princess.

Markle eventually decided to quit the royal family for their safety and the safety of their 11-month-old son, Archie.
