The upcoming limited HBO series, Scenes From a Marriage re-casted actors when Michelle William left the show. The series has now introduced Jessica Chastain to replace the Oscar-nominated actress. The 43-year-old actress will portray female lead opposite Oscar Isaac as she stepped into Williams's role due to rescheduling issues.

The network officially announced on Oct. 23 that Chastain would portray Williams' character on the series, which is 1973 television miniseries Ingmar Bergman's remake with the original name. Erland Josephson and Liv Ullmann played lead roles in the original series, which will be played by Isaac and Chastain in the HBO adaptation.

The upcoming series is executive produced, directed, and written by Hagai Levi, who recently worked on the Golden Globe Award-winning television series, The Affair. The project was initiated by Endeavor Content and Media Res, which is also responsible for The Morning Show starring Jennifer Aniston.

Chastain worked before with Isaac in A Most Violent Year back in 2014 and this project will mark her latest television series after accepting the role of the country singer Tammy Wynette for Paramount Plus, Paramount Network, and Spectrum titled George and Tammy.

The actress also marked her place as an Academy Award nominee twice for Zero Dark Thirty and The Help. For the same roles, Chastain was nominated for Golden Globe Awards and won for Zero Dark Thirty while she was nominated for other portrayals in projects such as Molly’s Game, Miss Sloane A Most Violent Year.

Moreover, the actress has recently completed The Eyes of Tammy Faye, which is directed by Michael Showalter and written by Abe Sylvia. The actress will be seen working with Vincent D'Onofrio and Andrew Garfield on the film.

The actress will also be seen next year in a full-fledged action movie, The 355. However, the HBO series will revolve around the iconic depiction that the original series showcased, such as marriage, monogamy, divorce, desire, hatred, and love from the couple's perspective. Blair Breard, Daniel Bergman, Lars Blomgren, and Amy Herzog will also serve as executive producers on the show.

Previously, Chastain joined a roundtable with Anthony Mackie, Kevin Kline, and Michael Urie to open up about Creating a Character: The Moni Yakim Legacy, a documentary that celebrates Moni Yakim. The Star Wars Episode IX: The Rise of Skywalker star and Chastain revealed techniques of their former Juilliard instructor and how they used them throughout their acting career.
