Touted as one of Hollywood's most popular actresses, Scarlett Johansson is slated to star in Apple and A24’s hotly-anticipated sci-fi drama dubbed Bride. The film will be directed by Sebastian Lelio, who rose to fame after directing the Oscar-winning movie, A Fantastic Woman.

Johannson is all set to produce with Lia and Keenan Flynn serving as co-producers. The feature is a riff on the sci-fi horror film Bride of Frankenstein and also marks Apple and A24's latest feature partnership.

Bride revolves around a woman who was crafted to be a perfect wife as a result of a genius entrepreneur's singular obsession. When she rejects the one who created her, she is forced to leave her incommodious existence and face a world that considers her to be a monster.

While on the run, she discovers her true identity, which is characterized by her surprising power, and her ability to recreate herself as her own creation. The Oscar-winning director behind Gloria and A Fantastic Woman will be at the helm, with Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo, who penned Wolfman, starring Ryan Gosling, will write the screenplay along with Lelio, according to Hollywood Reporter.

Johansson and Jonathan Lia will produce the feature under their These Pictures banner, and Keenan Flynn will be co-producing. Speaking about the impending project, Johansson said it was time for Bride to walk out of the shadow of her male coequal and confront the world all by herself.

The Iron Man 2 star pointed out that she and Sebastian are extremely excited to work alongside Lauren Schuker Blum and Rebecca Angelo and uncage this classic anti-heroine and give her story fresh vigor represent the changes that they see today.
