Prince William turned on his mother, Princess Diana only once all her life.

In the Amazon Prime documentary William and Harry: Brothers in Arms, royal author Katie Nicholl revealed that Prince William was so upset with Princess Diana when she gave a tell-all interview with Panorama.

During the Princess of Wales’ conversation with Martin Bashir, she told the journalist that there’s three of them in her marriage. She also admitted that she suffered from bulimia.

Prince William was, reportedly, made aware of the interview and even though he was just a teenager, he understood the repercussions that the interview would have on his family.

Nicholl revealed that the Duke of Cambridge phoned his mom in rage and fury and told her that he would never be able to forgive her.

Back then, Prince William was still a student at Eton and he was commissioned to watch the interview on his own. He initially asked Prince Harry to join him but he refused to hear his late mother’s words.

In the book William and Harry, Nicholl revealed that the Duke of Cambridge was perplexed while watching the interview. After, Prince William couldn’t believe that his mother would invite television cameras into their home to betray Prince Charles and the royal family.

Back then, Prince William and Prince Harry still had no idea that Prince Charles was having an affair with Camilla. While they had hunches, it was only after Princess Diana died that Prince Charles formally introduced Camilla to his sons.

In the book William’s Princess, author Robert Jobson said that Princess Diana visited Prince William in Eton the day before her interview aired because she wanted to tell her son about it.

However, it seems that Princess Diana never had the chance to tell Prince William about the interview because the latter was shocked when he found out about it.

“William watched in dismay as Diana went further than anybody had imagined she would. William, her ever-dependable little consort, was mortified and hurt by his mother’s words on Panorama,” Jobson wrote.

But it seems Prince William was able to forgive Princess Diana for the interview because they were on good terms when the Princess of Wales passed away in 1997.
