WWE Superstar and actor John Cena have tied the wedding knot with his long-time girlfriend, Shay Shariatzadeh. The ceremony took place at an attorney's office in Tampa, Florida, on Monday. The couple was first linked in March last year.

Cena and his girlfriend were accompanied by family, friends, as well as WWE talent on Tuesday during the ceremony. The couple got their marriage license on Friday, according to a marriage certificate obtained by PEOPLE.

The 43-year-old pro wrestler and Shariatzadeh, 30, exhibited some PDA earlier this year during their second red carpet appearance together at Dolittle premiere. They were even spotted sharing a kiss during their outing, and Cena alluded to Shariatzadeh as "family" in an interview with reporters on the carpet.

Referring to the Stephen Gaghan directed Dolittle as a family film, Cena said it was a wonderful occasion to celebrate with family. During an interview with Entertainment Tonight, the former WWE Champion revealed that he met Shariatzadeh on the set of Playing with Fire. Noting that it was a wonderful day for a movie premiere, Cena told the outlet last Oct. that he was accompanied by a beautiful date, referring to Shariatzadeh.

Speaking about why it was special, Cena said, regardless of what projects he was involved in the future. He went on to say that this one will always have a special meaning because he not only to be a part of a special project but also met someone special. Shariatzadeh, who works as a project manager for tech company Avigilon, is the first woman the actor has been linked to since publicly splitting from Nikki Bella in 2018.

The couple was photographed holding hands in Vancouver, Canada, in March 2019, and spotted kissing in April at the airport. Cena made his last WWE appearance during  WrestleMania 36, where he locked horns with The Fiend in a Firefly Fun House match and was shown a re-run of his WWE career in a nightmare format.

Following his exit from the WWE, Cena has been making a name for himself as one of the top Hollywood movie stars, with appearances in movies like Blockers and Bumblebee. Aside from that, he is slated to make an appearance in the hotly-anticipated blockbuster franchise Fast and the Furious 9, as well as the equally awaited The Suicide Squad.

Cena has also been announced as the voice of Honda and is slated to star in the auto giant's new Rugged campaign. His voice will be used to promote the redesigned 2021 Ridgeline truck, Pilot SUVs, and the new 2021 Passport.
