"Mad Max" is coming back – not as a sequel, but as a prequel – which means it’ll be different, probably carrying more nuances. The layout for the prequel to the "Mad Max" movie series is in the making – and as per what latest reports reveal the Thor star Chris Hemsworth has been cast alongside Anya Taylor-Joy who starred in 2020 release Emma and Watchmen star Yahya Abdul-Mateen II for the upcoming movie.

What many don’t know is that the first movie of the franchise debuted in Chris’ home country Australia with "Mad Max" that released in 1979. Directed by George Miller, the film has developed a cult following over the years and is one of the highest-grossing movies of the 70s in the country.

Chris Hemsworth, who was born in Melbourne Australia, says that it was "Mad Max" that inspired him to opt for acting. The movie is one of Chris’ favorites and he is definitely psyched up to be a part of the franchise that he grew up watching.

Taking to Instagram, Chris Hemsworth confirmed the news that he was in fact going to be in the upcoming "Mad Max" prequel. In addition to giving the confirmation, the actor also penned down his thoughts on what it means to be in the film that has had a great influence on his career.

His long and thoughtful note reads, “Pretty damn fired up to be a part of a franchise that meant the world to me as a kid growing up in Australia. The fact that I’ll have the honor of not only being directed by its original visionary in George Miller but also take part in Furiosa’s origin story is incredibly exciting.” To Chris, the popular film was the bar at the peak when it came to movies.

He further added on to say that he has enormous respect for all those who have contributed to the making of "Mad Max" so far – George, Tom Hardy, Charlize Theron, Mel, and all the cast and crew members.

The actor's excitement and enthusiasm for the movie are sure to help him proliferate his performance which may be an unmissable treat for his and "Mad Max" fans.
