Prince William and Prince Harry may have been close to their late mother, Princess Diana.

However, it was recently revealed that the Princess of Wales wasn’t there for all her sons’ milestones.

In the book Battle of Brothers, royal author Robert Lacey said that Princess Diana was very jealous of her sons’ nanny, Barbara Barnes. After all, the nanny was the one that witnessed Prince William and Prince Harry’s first steps.

Barnes was also there when the royal siblings uttered their first words. However, Princess Diana wasn’t. But despite the Princess of Wales’ jealousy towards Barnes, she still relied on the nanny for almost everything.

“She [Barnes] guarded the nursery floor like the Vatican, it was her kingdom,” Lacey said.

And Barnes, reportedly, became more involved in Prince William and Prince Harry’s lives when Princess Diana became more preoccupied with her charities and humanitarian causes.

In 1987, Barnes was fired from her job. And the firing was so abrupt that she was, reportedly, unable to say goodbye to Prince William and Prince Harry.

“There’s no telling the psychological impact this had on the boys, having a mother figure torn from them – especially for Harry, who clung to Barbara,” the source said for Woman’s Day said.

Meanwhile, Princess Diana also made headlines this week amid reports that her eating disorder will be highlighted in the upcoming season of The Crown.

While speaking with USA Today, Emma Corrin, the actress that will play Princess Diana, shared details from the upcoming season.

“Princess Diana was very candid bout (her eating disorder), which I think is incredibly progressive of her at that time. Obviously, it's something we're talking about now, but even now, if someone comes out and says that is something they've dealt with, it's a big deal. I knew that it was central to her experience, and I wanted to do that justice,” she said.

Corrin also said that she wanted to flesh out the sensitive scenes that would show Princess Diana’s struggles.

“I just think it’s important. I think that for anyone who's experienced it, it is always a good thing to see (it) be represented on screen. At the same time, I know it's very triggering to see, and I know that you have to be careful,” she said.
